Persistent reminders that repeat until you tap Done
A persistent reminder, also called a nagging or repeating reminder, does not stop after one notification. It comes back every few minutes until you tap Done. Kettle does this on iPhone: choose Keeps reminding for a reminder and it keeps whistling until you answer. For a reminder you cannot miss, choose Alarm, which rings even on Silent.
Make a reminder repeat until Done
- Tap Add (the + button), type the name and pick the day and the time.
- Under How it reminds, choose Keeps reminding.
- Choose how often it reminds, from every minute to every hour, and when it stops: when you tap Done, or after 3, 5, 10 or 20 more times.
- Tap Add.
Stop it from the Lock Screen
Done stops it. Later brings it back in 10 minutes, and you can change the 10. Tomorrow moves it to the same time tomorrow. A repeating reminder gets Not today instead, which skips only today. The same buttons are on the notification, so you can answer from the Lock Screen, from a widget or from Apple Watch.

A reminder you must not miss: Alarm
Choose Alarm under How it reminds. The whole screen becomes the alarm: the time, the whistling kettle, Done and Later. It rings on Silent and in Focus, with the screen locked. On iPhone it needs iOS 26 or later. Without Alarm, a reminder is a notification and follows your phone’s volume and Focus settings.

Questions
Can an iPhone reminder repeat until I mark it done?
Yes, in Kettle. Choose Keeps reminding, set how often, and it repeats until you tap Done.
Will a reminder ring when my iPhone is on Silent?
With Alarm, yes. On iPhone it rings through Silent and Focus on iOS 26 or later. Without Alarm, a reminder is a notification and follows your phone’s volume and Focus settings.
How do I stop a reminder that keeps repeating?
Tap Done, on the notification, in the app, on a widget or on Apple Watch. Done stops that reminder for good, and a repeating reminder lines up its next time.
Is there a limit to how many reminders can repeat?
No limit on reminders. iPhone lets Kettle line up about 60 notifications at a time, and Kettle tops them up whenever you open it or tap a notification button. If you have many reminders that repeat, open Kettle now and then.
