Terms of use

Effective 25 October 2026

In short: Kettle is a reminder app you buy once through your app store, with everything included and no in-app purchases. A phone can fail to show an alert, so don't depend on Kettle alone for anything where a missed reminder could cause serious harm.

1. These terms

These terms apply to the Kettle app and to kettle-reminder.app. Kettle is made by Guntis Jakovins (“we”). By using the app you agree to these terms. If you downloaded Kettle from Apple's App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; where the two differ, Apple's agreement governs your use on Apple devices.

2. What Kettle is

Kettle reminds you of things at a time or at a place, and keeps notifying you until you mark them done, snooze them or move them to tomorrow. It is a personal tool. It is not a medical device and not an emergency service.

3. Reminders can fail

We work hard to make every reminder arrive. But alerts depend on your phone and its settings: notifications switched off, battery saving, Focus or Do Not Disturb, a low battery, a restart, a changed time zone, limits set by iOS or Android, location that is off or imprecise, and bugs. Check that your important reminders work, and don't rely on Kettle alone where a missed reminder could harm you or someone else, for example for medicine. Place reminders use your phone's location and may be late or early.

4. Reminders you send

You can send a reminder to someone as a link. You are responsible for what you send. Send reminders only to people who would want them, and don't use Kettle to harass anyone or to break the law. Anything you put in a reminder you send is seen by the people you send it to and by the messaging app you use.

5. Your licence to use Kettle

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Kettle on devices you own or control, under the rules of the store you got it from. You may not copy, resell, or reverse-engineer the app except where the law allows it.

6. Buying Kettle

7. Your data

Kettle keeps your reminders on your phone, and daily backups in the app's folder. Keep your own copies of anything you can't lose. How we handle personal data is described in the privacy policy.

8. Availability and changes

We provide Kettle as it is, without guarantees that it will be free of errors or always available. We may update or change the app, and updates may be needed to keep using it.

9. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for lost data, or for loss caused by a reminder that did not arrive or arrived late. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer, including the mandatory consumer protection laws of the country you live in.

10. Feedback

If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them to improve Kettle without owing you anything. We handle the personal data in your messages as described in the privacy policy.

11. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will publish the new version here and update the date above. If you continue to use Kettle after a change, you accept the new terms.
